I was doing some fashion work and the t.v. show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was on in the background. Most of the time... I wouldn't know the answers to some of the questions but one of the question that was asked and I knew the answer to was... "Penelope Cruz is considered Madonna of what city?" Being the big Penelope fan that I am, I already knew the answer to that. It's Madrid, Spain! If I could be any Hollywood actress... I wouldn't be an Angelina Jolie. I prefer Penelope over any Hollywood actress. She is as talented as she is beautiful. I <3 Penelope!

Have you heard of the saying "likes are attracted to likes"? The people you surround yourself with is a mirroring image of yourself. That's why you can appreciate their company and friendship. You love being around their presence. For an example... successful people tend to flock together because of their status and achievements in life. People that are successful can carry their own and be able to relate to other successful people, that way there would be no feeling of inadequacy. I look around at my friends and it's so clear to me what kind of person I am. I absolutely love over-achievers, driven, ambitious, career oriented, independent, brilliant, confident, individualistic, strong women with their own style, flare, and class. I'm drawn to these type of women because I myself would like to fall under this category of women. In a few I'm about to meet up with a very good and dear friend of mine that I wholeheartedly love and respect. I admire her dedication to her career, her kindness, her generosity, her motivation, her ambition, her intelligence, her attitude on life and men, and the way she carries herself. The list would go on forever. We were chatting earlier and she made a comment that put a smile on my face. She said... "We were both born to be successful..." ditto... I couldn't have agreed more.

I just came back from watching "The September Issue" a documentary about Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine. There was a part in the film where Anna's daughter Bee spoke about how she felt about the whole fashion industry and if she would one day follow in her mother's footstep in being a fashion editor. Bee aspires to be a lawyer and she thinks the fashion industry is weird or the people in it is weird. She mentioned how there's more to life than just fashion and the people that's in the fashion industry get so obsessed that their life and world revolves around fashion. So it made me wonder... if I'm a little too obsessed with fashion? I know this is my passion. I eat, sleep, and breath this. Sometimes I don't even eat or sleep because I'm so caught up in my own fashion bubble that I neglect certain things around me. Besides fashion, I do appreciate art, traveling, seeing and trying new things, good food, reading, pop culture, philosophy, understanding life, the simple things in life, good humor, fascinating people, I like to observe, people watch, and listen. I tend to wonder sometimes if I should broaden my interests. Though I love fashion but I wonder if it's necessary for me watch more CNN or read more on politics to be more open-minded to people that may not be in the arts and fashion and be able to relate to them as well outside of fashion? Also, I wonder if it could be true when people say artists are crazy people. Yes, I think I can be crazy at times. As an artists, we are very temperamental. Sometimes I say things and do things in the heat of the moment and would wake up the next morning and not remember why I was mad or angry the day before. One thing I do know... we are true to who we are. I've read somewhere that it's statistically true that there is a higher rate of mental illnesses in people with an artistic lifestyle. I know I want to be able to express myself creatively in my career but I want to find the right balance. Someone told me that they see me being with another artist because I'm such a free-spirit. I strongly disagree. I want a man to balance me and help me tone down my craziness and add a bit of stability in my life but appreciates what I do for a living and art as much as I do.

A sneak peek of the dress I've been losing sleep over. It's a dress I'm putting together for this week's fashionshoot. It's not done yet... still have to handstitch the applique around the bust area because it's still looking a little risque right now. Also, want to add more tulle at the bottom peeping out for a little more jazz. My dress is a total bore right now. I just got the base down and now the fun part... time to spice it up. I want DRAMA! I was kidding myself when I thought I can do 3 dresses in 1 and half week and working full-time at Chanel on top of that. So I haven't been eating and sleeping well. One of these days, I'll be able to do this full-time.

I need to be more consistent on my blogging. I'm also very excited to share some of my work on here since I will soon get my own studio space to design and sew.

People may say I'm in an industry that's materialistic and superficial but I honestly can't see myself doing anything else. I rather shoot myself in the head or get run over by a bus than to be an accountant, doctor, lawyer, etc. It's just not who I am, life is too short... I'm an individual with a creative essence that god has blessed me with and I need to express that. Fashion is an creative outlet for me to do so. It makes me happy. I'm really a simple girl that chose to be in an industry that's not quite so simple.

This past weekend we went to The Houston Art Festival in Memorial Park. The mister literally live like a minute away from Memorial. I had so much fun looking at all of the interesting art from different artists. One that definitely caught my eye is Victor Lee's work. I'm a huge fan... I love that his paintings are so beautiful and it has a real-life 3-d look to it but behind each painting symbolizes something. Whether it's life, politics, spirituality, etc. I love how he conveys his vision in his artwork. His paintings can range from a few hundred to thousands of dollars. I've been so lazy to update on my blog nowadays. I think that's because I've been busy with work and I haven't really been inspired to blog about anything. Good news... really soon I'm going to have my studio space to sew again. I can't wait for that. Ive been on a shoe shopping frenzy... but they are currently hiding in the trunk of my car because I don't want the mister to see.

Oh and what else is new? Besides my fabulous job, I'm getting an apartment in a very nice bourgie neighborhood in the city... located conveniently to upscale restaurants, shopping, Starbucks, Central Market, and Whole Foods.

Another thing I just realized... in 5 more months I will be turning 25! Holy crap... I'm getting old. Worries me dearly... but then again I'm looking on the positive side. Nowadays have you heard of the saying your 30's and 40's is the new 20's? I think some women get more fabulous as they age... career-wise they are more established... know who they are... so they are more confident and more at peace with themselves. Age is nothing but a number... it's all about your attitude and your zest for life that keeps you young.

I meet numerous women a day... I'm in the industry where I can chit chat and get to know them personally... I'm very amazed by some women I've encountered. I met this one lady at my counter a few weeks back... I was blown away when she told me her real age. She told me she was 76... but she had the figure of a voluptuous 30 year old women... full breast, small waist, and full hips. She had a little cougar strut in her walk. I asked her what's her secret to looking so fabulous at her age... she swears on eating blackberries religiously, eat healthy, and fresh fruits and vegetables daily. She only eat meat when she feels as if it's necessary, like when she's tired. Maybe that should be a new diet I should try. I would just love to be 80 years of age and not be in a wheelchair and still be out and about flaunting myself as if I was a young girl and have this amazing love for life and energy.

A random fact... so did you know Chanel's skin doctors has done numerous extensive studies on skin and traveled all over the world near and far and came to Asia to find out our secret among Asian women and how we aged relatively well? So, they found out we have alot of soy proteins in our diet. I'm seriously going to drink more soy milk.

Jerry Hall, at 52 years of age, is the woman of the hour for the new Chanel's Handbag Campaign. I really wish at 52 I can still be sexy and seductive like her. Makes me want to pile on anti-aging wrinkle cream now. I can see myself being like Jerry in these photographs 30 years from now. Maybe not as sexy, but you see how she lays with the Chanel purses and shopping bags all sprawl on her bed? That would be me...... I seriously would go to bed with my Chanel purses.

These pictures are from awhile back but Heidi Manheimer, CEO of Shiseido Cosmetics America (whom I've met in Houston last year at one of our training seminars), hosted a party at the Roof Garden of the Gramercy Park Hotel to celebrate Dick Page's new role as the Artistic Director for Shiseido the Makeup. I'm glad to say Dick Page has done some amazing things for Shiseido thus far, with his innovative vision, really puts Shiseido out there in the fashion world.

I spotted this super cute vintage genuine Italian leather pair of boots at the thrift store yesterday. I wore it to work and recieved tons of compliments from random people. They are the perfect pair of boots to wear for fall. Now, I'm still debating whether these should go into my store or to keep them for myself. I love it that it's not brand new, so effortlessly chic and uberly cool.

I went antique shopping today at one of my favorite antique stores after a yummy brunch at Empire.

I get so inspired just looking at furniture pieces. Just makes me want to go out and get my own place so I can decorate it.

Andrew wants an ottoman by the footside of his bed, so I found this one. It's in good condition and looks fairly new and cost only $150.

Of course I had to make a stop at America Apparel and tried on a few things here and there.

I had to get this knit dress or else I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I love the way it fits like a second skin on my body. I must go back to get it in different colors.

Vintage rose print ruffled off the shoulder dress I purchased today. Needs a little tweak here and there and some brand new trimmings and the bottom ruffles shortened a few inches so I can wear a brown belt with this. I can't wait to wear this dress out. So romantic and feminine. Beautiful!

One thing I absolutely love is hunting for beautiful and unique vintage. They say "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Today I spent my day with my vintage-lover buddy Nhu. I had to show her 19th street a little secret shopping strip that I fell in love with when I first discovered this area when Andrew first moved into the city. It's a very charming and quaint area hidden right in the heart of the Heights. Somehow walking up and down this street makes me feel like I'm being transported back in time to the 1950's. That's how old this area is. I'm like a little girl in a candy store when I walk into a vintage store and discovering beautiful antique jewelry pieces, purses, and dresses. I literally would go mad.

New Orleans

So I was in New Orleans for the past few days accompanying the BF while he worked. The BF was busy for the most part because it was a work trip for him and a mini getaway for me. I spent most of my time in our lovely suite courtesy of the W. Andrew and I, are sold for life on the W. Upon entering into the hotel, it was a whole different urban and modern feel. I enjoyed the trendy decor and jazzy ambience music playing in the background - really suits our taste and lifestyle. I love waking up in the morning and calling for room service and having my breakfast delivered to my door, and coming back from a long shopping adventure to a clean room, nicely made bed, and freshly cleaned sheets. I would drop my shopping bags on the floor, run to the bed, throw my arms up, and sink right into the downy goose pillows. Oh, the wonderful hotel life!

I was rather pleased by the selection of reading materials that awaits us, sitting on the coffee table.

After dinner one evening. we came back to the room with dessert and champagne waiting for us, complimentary by the W.

A vintage dress I purchased some time ago for $11.99.

Besides spending some quality time with the BF, (since, we don't have that sort of luxury as much anymore due to Andrew's excessive work travelling) my most favorite part about New Orleans is Magazine St. and the Flea Market. Magazine St. is literally a 7 mile shopping strip with non-stop boutique, thrift stores, antique shopping, and some residential homes. It's very much like Montrose in Houston. So like... I went crazy and shopped for 5 hours. I found some really great deals at the thrift stores.

I'm a design person so I can spot a really good quality made item. I was just blown away by this super cute white denim jumper original price $222, and I paid $22 for it! What a steal.

My favorite shopping finds by far on this trip would be the vintage glass neck choker thing... which I got for $6, unbelieveably cheap for what it's worth. Such a unique piece! Ahhh... I love jewelry! I spent less than $30 on everything pictured above.

My new hobby will be collecting extravagant big statement cocktail rings.

I'm really liking the Bourgie Lamp by designer Ferruccio Laviani.

This would be like my dreamhouse. I just love the Meditteranean-style Villa homes and architecture.

I don't think I ask for much in life. One thing is... I refuse to settle for anything less than what I believe I deserve. So this is what really matters to me and is very important to me in life (present & future). I will not be at peace with myself until I obtain these things...

1. My career... I will be happy with my own business one day and doing what I love. Spreading my style and flair to beautiful women--dressing women for red carpet events and galas and getting paid big bucks doing so. I would like to have my very own boutique, dayspa, and clothing line (because we all know fashion & beauty is important to me).

2. I want my Meditteranean Villa dreamhouse with a whole room turned into a walk-in closet (customized to my liking of pink/eggplant iridescent mosaic walls, ceiling, and flooring) dedicated to my wardrobe, shoes, and accessories. I want full-length mirrors at every angle and a vanity/makeup station with a collection of my favorite perfumes and jewelry.

3. A collection of designer handbags and shoes stacked one after another--side by side like books in a library.

4. I would love to travel all over the world... seeing and experiencing new things--trying different foods, shopping in Paris and Milan, sun-kissing on a yacht in St. Tropez, and being globally cultured.

5. To be financially well off so I can shop and spend on whatever I like, frequent trips to the spa, and to be able to give back to my parents and loved ones.

6. Lastly but not certainly least, to be happily married to a good man and have beautiful children.

That is all... I'm really a simple girl with materialistic needs.

Vera Wang being weird in Marni heels, Shopping on Robertson Boulevard; Los Angeles, June 16.

I don't know about you guys but I believe Vera Wang is going through some sort of mid-life crisis. I'm all up in the bridal/evening wear business so I've been following Vera's work for quite some time now. She has always been known for her bridal and eveningwear -- her soft, delicate, and romantic taste. For the past 2 years or so I believe she has been trying to re-invent herself in the more Ready-To-Wear side and her stuff has been so off from her usual "soft, delicate, romantic" look.
